Erica Trethart / President / 2025 -
I graduated from the 4-year ASL-English Interpretation Program (University of Manitoba/Red River College) in 2010. I have worked primarily as a staff interpreter for the Manitoba School for the Deaf and Manitoba Education but have also done some freelance and post-secondary work. I am originally from Thompson, MB, but moved to Winnipeg to get my Music Degree in Percussion. I am married and have two young sons and a dog. I love travelling, music and baking. I am enjoying my current role as president but I have also been vice president, treasurer, secretary and MEC chair. MAVLI is here to support interpreters, so please be in touch with any questions or concerns. [email protected] |
Shaina Dumont / Vice President / 2025 -
After graduating in 2011 I worked as a contractor for ECCOE for one year where I was then hired as a staff interpreter and have been ever since. I enjoy being on the board where I can learn from colleagues and provide insight where I can.
When I’m not running my kids around to activities, I spend a lot of my free time with them and my husband on our farm raising cattle.

Jordan Wynychuk / Professional Development / 2026 - 2028
I graduated from the AEIP program at Red River College and University of Manitoba in 2017. I have since worked in VRS, community, and faith-based settings. I truly enjoy meeting and working with Deaf individuals while continuing to grow and strengthen my interpreting skills through a variety of experiences and environments. I have served on the MAVLI board as Public Relations, and I am happy to be back in this position. When I am not interpreting, I am busy with my three daughters, who are my world. I enjoy any type of coffee, working out, reading, and spending times with friends. [email protected] |

Shelby Jolly / Professional Development / 2026 - 2028
Hello! My name is Shelby Jolly, and I have been working primarily as a VRS interpreter for over seven years. I graduated from the joint program through Red River College and the University of Manitoba in 2019 and have experience working in a variety of settings, including post-secondary and community interpreting. This is my second time serving on the board, after previously holding the role of Co-Chair for Public Relations in 2020. I am excited for this new opportunity and look forward to working closely with and supporting the community. Outside of work, I am happily married and a proud mom to my 13-year-old daughter. Our family also includes two cats that we absolutely adore. In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, trying new restaurants with friends and family, and collecting Starbucks and Stanley tumblers — I currently have over 100 cups in my collection! Taylor Huckerby / MAVLI Education Committee / 2025 -
Hello! I graduated from the ASL-English Interpreting program in 2022 and have found myself primarily working in the community. I also have experience in VRS, faith-based, and K-12. I love that the work we do allows us to experience a variety of settings. When I am not interpreting, I find myself either on a plane or looking at plane tickets to jet off on my next adventure. I also love meeting new people and exploring our beautiful province. I am looking forward to my first year on the board! |
