Interpreting Consultants
Educational Interpreting Consultant
The Educational Interpreting Consultant (EIC) models appropriate ASL and interpreting for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing across Manitoba. The EIC diagnoses the interpreting abilities and ASL skills of school support staff (signers and interpreters), provides training and mentorship. The EIC provides professional development opportunities and information sessions for school team members, students and parents with regard to ASL, Deaf culture, interpreting in educational settings, the role of the interpreter and issues related to hiring interpreters.
