We've been talking about it....now let's do it...FEEDBACK!
Interpreters work in such a variety of environments and many of us have insufficient opportunities to sit with colleagues and get helpful individualized feedback on our work. Those of us with the benefit of a team to connect with regularly, might also benefit from the opportunity to look at our work with a fresh set of eyes. The MAVLI PD team is here to provide these opportunities.
Here's how it works: We have provided the following 2 videos:

Prior to the feedback session, you will record yourself interpreting. These recordings will be brought to your group to view and discuss. The PD team will be providing some guiding instructions, but the rest is up to you. The key is that you will have a chance to talk about the work, YOUR work and specific ideas and strategies for improvement.
Feedback sessions will take place virtually on Zoom. Please register for the date that works best for you:
Wednesday Feb 15th 6-8pm (CT)

Saturday Feb 18th 1-3pm (CT):
Register in advance for this meeting:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Registration Deadline is February 10th, You MUST pre-register to join either session so that we can prepare groups beforehand.
(Feel free to register for both sessions if your schedule is flexible, so that we can make the group numbers more even. If you choose both we will be in contact just after Feb 10th to let you know which date you will attend)
This is a free event, open to any interpreter who would like to participate. However, because we will be dividing participants into small groups, we ask that you only register if you can commit to pre-recording and attending the session. Sharing our work can be a vulnerable experience, let's commit to honouring each other's time and openness.
Students: Interpreting students are allowed to register as observers. This event is meant for trained interpreters who already have interpreting skills and tools for constructive feedback. However, students can learn a lot from watching how these conversations take place, you are welcome to join a group. Recording and showing an interpretation is not required.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the PD Chairs, [email protected], hope to see you all there!
