9:15-10:15 Let’s have some fun with ASL Classifiers
ASL Classifiers are a crucial part of ASL, but often very challenging for second language users to learn. Come and learn from Cody Zimmer! This will be a hands-on workshop.
10:15 - 10:30 Break
10:30 - 11:45 Sports
John Gessner, former Deaf Olympian and current Canadian Deaf Sports Association Male representative, will teach us how to sign everything sports! He will also share his experience as an athlete who is Deaf who has attended both the Summer and Winter Deaflympics as well as the Deaf Worlds.
11:45-1:00 Lunch (on your own)
1:00-2:15 Student Specific Planning for Students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Cindy Neil and Meaghan Gessner will take us through what it is like to have a mild, moderate and severe hearing loss, review appropriate terminology, discuss Audism and much more! Come to this workshop ready to learn!
2:15-2:30 Break
2:30-3:00 Preparation and Resources
Meaghan Gessner, Manitoba Educational Interpreting Consultant will explain how to best utilize your time to prepare for each subject/assignment you are required to interpret. Some useful resources will be shared.
3:00-3:15 Feedback/Survey/Wrap up
